Copacabana

Encapsulating Brazilian joie de vivre and inspired by tropical colour, the samba music of the 1960s and coastal style, in the winter of 2009 the House of Tabbah launched Copacabana. Crafted from highest quality crocodile skin, the first bracelet produced was a double wrap culminating in a Divine Serpent clasp, (the Divine Serpent is familiar from Tabbah’s Designer Collection), which opens to reveal the serpent’s heart.

The Copacabana collection launched in late 2009 featuring a range of colourful bracelets that embrace design and style from a jeweller’s perspective. Divine Serpent

With Copacabana, Tabbah created a joyous collection of colourful bracelets with straps rendered in a choice of vibrant hues. The collection aimed to capture the essence of youth, a zest for life, the vibrancy of beach culture and the wonderful tunes that pealed out over the sea-shore-side clubs of the Copacabana beach in Brazil in the 1960s.

The Divine Serpent motif that launched the entire range was already familiar to Tabbah customers from the Designer Collection. It was set into a motif that wraps the bracelet and conceals a hidden heart clasp. It was also the first bracelet that offered such a range of choices in terms of crocodile skin colours, gold and stones.

The variety of combinations ensures that personalized jewellery can be created again and again for each customer. With the Copacabana collection Tabbah clients are free to choose, and create individual styles which express their unique personalities. Love

Rendered in the juiciest of colour palettes, with a hand-designed font inspired by 1960s bubblelicious pop and the era of free love, Tabbah’s Love bracelet is a joyful expression of euphoria an charm. Inspiration for the Copacabana collection came from music, and in particular the samba music of the 1960s. The Love bracelet echoes elements of the graphics, colours and styles of the 1960s and 70s but reinterpreted for contemporary times.

Mashallah

Mashallah celebrates love for God using elegant Arabic calligraphy in joyful expression. For the word Mashallah, which means ‘With God's will’, in the context of hope, Tabbah created a distinct form of calligraphy. The font style is reminiscent of regular script seen in printed material throughout the Arabic speaking world. Along with the font created for the Allah motif, this shows the inspiring versatility of calligraphic style.

In line with the rest of the Copacabana collection, the Mashallah motifs are available in three gold types: yellow, rose and white gold. There is also a choice of plain gold (with no diamonds), semi pavé (some diamonds) and full pavé (covered in diamonds). For the Mashallah motif, plain gold has 3 diamonds and full pavé has 85 diamonds.

Allah

Allah celebrates love for God using elegant Arabic calligraphy in joyful expression. Selecting the word Allah (meaning God), Tabbah created a distinct form of calligraphy for this most holy of words. The Allah motif in the Copacabana collection is modern, curvy and wide in places, yet pointed in others. It is a unique design with sensual, sculptural proportions.

In line with the rest of the Copacabana collection, the Allah motif is available in three gold types: yellow, rose and white gold. There is also a choice of plain gold (with no diamonds), semi pavé (some diamonds) and full pavé (covered in diamonds). For the Allah motif, full pavé has 99 diamonds, a reflection that in Islam Allah has 99 names describing his attributes as God.

Amore

Celebrating love, the Amore designs in Tabbah’s Copacabana collection, express positive emotion with uplifting joy. Designating the Italian word for ‘love’ for this motif in the Copacabana collection, the inspiration came from the genre of style captured in Federico Fellini’s 1960 film La Dolce Vita, and by Dean Martin’s signature song of the same name. For Tabbah, the word amore evokes a sense of a promise of love made in a bygone era of style and innocence. The motif design expresses the essence of this gentle, joyful word.

Heart

Celebrating love, Heart designs in Tabbah’s Copacabana collection, express positive emotion with uplifting joy. The Heart motif represents the purity of love by creating a transparent heart, cut from, rather than in, gold. The crafting of Copacabana’s heart shape is an expression of the idea that to love is to reveal oneself completely, and that in love there are no conditions. The “evil eye” has long been a signature motif used in Tabbah’s jewellery designs and its adaptation for the Copacabana series was a natural progression for this colourful collection that celebrates positive emotions.

Copacabana’s interpretation of this apotropaic talisman comes in 14 different vibrant shades of quality iguana skin. The eye itself forms the clasp and is crafted from turquoise, onyx, tiger's eye quartz in a steel housing. The unique design ensures that attention is first captured by the coloured strap, with the eye clasp adding a traditional dimension to a fashion forward style. Copacabana Eye bracelets are designed to be worn alone or as part of a mix-and-match system with other bracelets so that the wearer can choose their own motifs and colours, selecting which work together for bespoke results.
